Turkish Sugared Rice

For preference choose large-grained shiny rice.
1 lb. of rice
½ lb. of honey
½ lb. of oil or butter
¼ lb. of small seedless raisins
A few drops of vanilla essence
Hot water
Put the rice into a stew pan with the oil and honey. Cook until it is golden, in the oven. Then cover the whole with hot water and add the raisins. Add the vanilla essence and finish cooking — that is, until the water has disappeared and the sweet is left wet, and will just come away from the sides of the pan.
