Dates in Butter Sauce (Al-Rangina)

Saudi Arabia
3/4 lb. whole dates, pitted
3/4 cup butter
2/3 cup flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1½ tablespoons confectioner's sugar
Place the dates in 4 to 6 small serving plates in rows; then set aside.

Heat the butter over medium heat until it begins to sizzle; then add the flour and cinnamon. Sauté and stir continually for no more than 3 minutes. The butter sauce should be a soft paste. Pour the sauce over the dates and allow to cool; then sprinkle with confectioner's sugar and serve.

Serves 4 to 6.
